This Hand-knotted Afghan Bidjar Tribal Rug builds its pattern from tall, arching floral medallions in deep red and cream, repeated in rows across a warm terracotta field. Delicate botanical sprigs and small animal figures fill the space between, giving the design depth without crowding it.
Bidjar weaving is known for its density and durability, both present here. Every medallion was hand-knotted by weavers working through Kelim Shop's own production in Afghanistan, meaning we deal directly with the artisans rather than through outside trading houses.
The terracotta base shifts in tone depending on the light, leaning orange in daylight and deeper red indoors. Combined with steel blue and sage green accents, the palette reads as earthy rather than bold, a rug that anchors a room without overwhelming it.
