Hand-Knotted Afghan Farhan Ziegler Rug

This Farhan Ziegler carries a warm terracotta field filled with a mix of large round rosettes and smaller square medallions, connected by scrolling vines and saw-edged leaves in ivory and sage. That mix of round and square motifs within the same field is a bit unusual, most pieces stick to one shape family, and it gives this rug a slightly more varied, collected feel than a strictly uniform repeat. What really sets it apart, though, is the border, a fine ivory checkerboard grid dotted with small motifs, punctuated by larger red coral-like leaf forms at intervals, quite different from the scrolling vine borders we usually see.
