Handwoven Kilim Cushion Cover

This set of two handwoven kilim cushion cover is built around one of the most compelling design ideas in artisan weaving — the split panel. Rather than repeating a single pattern across the entire surface, the cover brings together two entirely different weave sections side by side, each with its own colour story and texture, creating a composition that is far more interesting than a conventional design could ever be.

Cover One makes a bold and confident statement through contrast. The right panel — taking up more than half the cover — is a wide, uninterrupted expanse of deep crimson red plain weave. Rich, warm and intensely present, the red panel dominates without overwhelming, its smooth handwoven surface carrying a subtle natural texture that keeps it feeling alive rather than flat. The left panel is its lively, colourful counterpart. Horizontal stripes in sage green, lime yellow, sky blue, blush pink, pale grey and warm cream run in a soft, varied rhythm — quiet and gentle for the most part, until a bold band of near-black and deep red cuts sharply through the lower section, adding unexpected drama and energy to the softer tones around it. The contrast between the commanding plain red and the delicate multicolour stripe is the entire story of this cover — bold meets soft, solid meets varied, warm meets cool.

Cover Two takes a completely different approach, replacing the bold plain panel with an equally captivating composition. The left panel is packed with energy — densely fine horizontal stripes in vivid fuchsia pink, orange, lime green, purple and white are layered tightly in a narrow vertical band, creating a burst of vivid multicolour that draws the eye immediately. Below it a band of warm golden yellow adds a further touch of warmth before the panel transitions into the wide, open right section. The dominant right panel is a breath of fresh air — broad horizontal stripes in blush pink, soft lavender, pale sky blue, warm cream and soft yellow run in a wide, airy rhythm across the entire surface. Two sharp accent bands of near-black and deep red run horizontally through the centre of the panel — a deliberate echo of the same detail from Cover One, tying the two covers together as a considered and cohesive set.
