Handwoven Kilim Cushion Cover

This set of two handwoven kilim cushion cover is built around one of the most compelling design ideas in artisan weaving, the split panel. Rather than repeating a single pattern across the entire surface, the cover brings together two entirely different weave sections side by side, each with its own colour story and texture, creating a composition that is far more interesting than a conventional design could ever be.

Cover One is led by a bold wide horizontal stripe panel that fills the left and lower portions of the cover. Broad bands of lime yellow-green, deep crimson red, soft sky blue, near-black, warm cream, pale blue and burnt orange run in a confident, unhurried rhythm, each stripe generous in width, rich in colour and full of the natural tonal variation that only genuine handwoven wool can produce. The upper right corner introduces the contrasting panel, a dense field of fine multicolour stripes in deep burgundy, fuchsia pink, purple and grey packed tightly together, creating a vivid, almost tapestry-like accent that adds depth and complexity to the bolder stripes beside it. A narrow band of near-black with a fine amber detail line sits between the two panels as a clean, precise dividing detail.

Cover Two mirrors the same composition in a slightly different arrangement. The bold wide stripe panel now runs vertically along the right side and across the lower portion, lime green, peach orange, sky blue, cream, near-black, soft teal and deep red moving in a fresh, open sequence. The contrasting fine stripe panel occupies the left side, this time with an even denser, more varied arrangement of multicolour fine stripes in burgundy, fuchsia, lavender, teal and grey, its narrow, tightly woven surface buzzing with colour against the wider, calmer stripes beside it.
