Handwoven Kilim Cushion Cover

This set of two handwoven kilim cushion cover is built around one of the most compelling design ideas in artisan weaving, the split panel. Rather than repeating a single pattern across the entire surface, the cover brings together two entirely different weave sections side by side, each with its own colour story and texture, creating a composition that is far more interesting than a conventional design could ever be.

At 50x50cm these are generously sized covers that make an even greater visual impact than their smaller counterparts, the bold stripes filling a larger, more commanding surface with colour and presence that is immediately felt when you enter a room.

Both covers share the same split panel structure and the same full-spectrum palette, presenting it in slightly different arrangements that give each cover its own personality while keeping them clearly connected as a pair.

Cover One places its bold wide horizontal stripe panel on the right two-thirds of the cover. Lime yellow-green, deep crimson red, soft sky blue, near-black, warm cream, bright peach orange and a second band of lime green move in a generous, open sequence down the surface. Each stripe is wide and confident, its colour rich and deeply saturated with the natural depth of handwoven wool. The near-black band cuts through the middle of the composition with graphic authority, separating the cooler sky blue above from the warmer cream and orange below. Along the left edge, a narrow vertical panel of densely packed fine stripes in fuchsia pink, purple, sage green, olive, sky blue, red and white buzzes with colour, a vivid, energetic accent that frames the bolder stripes with a contrasting complexity.

Cover Two introduces a slightly different balance. The bold wide horizontal stripe panel here begins with a wide near-black block at the top, bold, graphic and grounding, before moving through sky blue, soft grey, peach orange, lime green, deep red, near-black again and warm cream in a varied, rhythmic sequence. The palette here leans slightly cooler than Cover One, with the sky blue and grey tones more prominent in the upper section giving the cover a fresher, more open feel. The left fine stripe accent panel carries a complementary arrangement, lime green, sky blue, sage, olive, pink and multicolour fine stripes packed together in the same dense, vibrant sequence as its companion cover.

Together these two covers make a pairing that is generous in size, rich in colour and completely full of the kind of handcrafted character that only genuine kilim weaving delivers.
