Handwoven Kilim Cushion Cover

This set of two handwoven kilim cushion cover is built around one of the most compelling design ideas in artisan weaving, the split panel. Rather than repeating a single pattern across the entire surface, the cover brings together two entirely different weave sections side by side, each with its own colour story and texture, creating a composition that is far more interesting than a conventional design could ever be.

This particular set takes a warmer, more sophisticated approach than many in the collection. Cover One divides its surface between two very distinct personalities. The left panel carries bold wide vertical stripes in warm amber gold, deep crimson red and soft cream, wide, confident bands of colour that glow with a rich, sun-drenched warmth. The amber and red tones are deeply saturated, each stripe shifting naturally across its width as the handwoven wool surface catches the light. A narrow band of warm orange and cream sits at the left edge, adding a gentle graduated transition into the main stripe. The right panel provides a striking contrast, dense fine horizontal stripes in blush pink, burgundy, near-black, warm cream and muted grey packed tightly together across the entire right half of the cover. Two bands of near-black with fine woven dot detail run horizontally through this panel, adding structure and graphic weight to the softer fine stripe arrangement. The overall effect is a cover that moves from bold and warm on the left to fine and complex on the right, two entirely different weave energies occupying the same surface with complete harmony.

Cover Two takes a horizontal rather than vertical split approach. The upper quarter of the cover is a bold horizontal stripe panel in deep crimson red, warm amber gold and rich burnt orange, wide, warm and immediately inviting. Below this warm upper band, the lower three-quarters of the cover open into a completely different mood. Fine vertical stripes in cool silver grey, sky blue, deep burgundy, warm taupe and cream run from top to bottom in a calm, open arrangement, wider than a fine stripe but not quite reaching the boldness of the upper panel, sitting in a satisfying middle ground between the two. The cool grey and sky blue tones provide a refreshing contrast to the warm red and amber above, creating a natural visual balance between warm and cool that gives the cover a sophisticated, considered quality.

Together these two covers complement each other beautifully, sharing the same warm amber and red tones at their core while each presenting a very different supporting composition. A pairing that is rich, warm and quietly compelling.
